“Same Same, But Different” is an ongoing art series inspired by my experience with dyslexia and the different ways people see, process, and understand the world around them.

Using familiar images, flipped perspectives, symbolism, and visual distortion, the work invites viewers to slow down, look closer, and consider that there may be more than one way to see the same thing.

A recurring symbol throughout the series is the upside-down face. It represents altered perception and the experience of recognizing familiar shapes, letters, symbols, and images while processing them in a different way. What may seem incorrect or distorted to one person may simply be another valid way of seeing.

Through visual storytelling, pattern work, childhood imagery, and playful exploration, “Same Same, But Different” celebrates neurodivergence as a source of creativity, imagination, and unique perspective

Same Same, But Different is supported by the Bronx Arts Council through the 2026 New Work and Community Engagement Grants.

As the project continues to grow, I'll be sharing artwork, activities, and community experiences inspired by the series through collaborations with Include NYC and events like Outdoors for Autism.

The full Same Same, But Different collection will be exhibited later this year, bringing together artwork, interactive experiences, and opportunities for reflection, conversation, and creative exploration.

A/R Experience Coming Soon

What you see is only the beginning.

Through Augmented Reality (A/R), selected works from Same Same, But Different” will come to life with animation, sound, and hidden layers waiting to be discovered.

Scan the artwork, explore beyond the surface, and experience new perspectives that can't be seen with the naked eye.

Look closer. There's more to the picture than meets the eye.
